Infant Leukaemia
|
Infants with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and acute myeloid leukaemia have a high incidence of translocations involving the MLL gene on chromosome 11. The t(4;11) translocation is the most common
translocation in infant ALL, and is associated with a poorer prognosis. Absence of CD10 expression has also been reported to be associated with poor prognosis in infant ALL. Alterations of ikaros
(ZNFN1A1) are also seen in infant ALL. Some forms of myeloid leukaemia in infants present as myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative syndromes, which can be associated with other constitutional disorders.
