International: Key Organisations (5 links)

  • International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) based in Lyon, France. The IARC was founded in 1965 by the World Health Organisation to coordinate and conduct research into the causes and control of cancer, particularly by epidemiological and laboratory studies
  • International Network for Cancer Treatment and Research A not-for-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1998 by the UICC to assist developing countries through research, education and training programmes. The Web site includes details of projects, meetings, publications, newsletter and membership.
  • International Oncology Study Group IOSG is a cooperative research group, founded in 1993 to conduct clinical studies in cancer. There are members from over 90 centres predominantly located in Asia and Oceania
  • Union Internationale Contre le Cancer - International Union Against Cancer (UICC) This site gives information about the programs of the UICC, calendar of events, details of member organisations, publications, resources, fellowships etc.
  • World Health Organisation (WHO) An international agency of the United Nations, founded in 1946. The Web site includes details of WHO, programs, reports, information sources for various disease and health issues including cancer and tobacco use.

  • Histiocyte Society Hosted at The Texas Children's Cancer Center and Hematology Service this Web site provides details about the Histiocyte Society, information about histiocytosis etc.
  • International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer IASLC was founded in 1972 and has over a thousand professional members worldwide. The aims of the Association are to promote the study of the etiology, epidemiology, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, education, and all other aspects of lung cancer.
  • International Myeloma Foundation This site contains details of the IMF, telephone hotline, and information packs. Online resources include a newsletter, email discussion group, and patient handbook. Also there is information for researchers: grant applications etc.
  • International Neurofibromatosis Association The Association aims to promote awareness of neurofibromatosis, encourage collaborations among scientists and NF organisations throughout the world. Details of the Association are included on the Web pages of the US National NF Foundation.

  • Josep Carreras International Leukaemia Foundation Spanish and English language support. JCILF was founded in 1988 at the behest of the tenor Josep Carreras, and funds leukemia research and the Redmo register of marrow donors. Details of the foundation and grant applications.
  • Melanoma Program - World Health Organisation An international co-operative group founded in 1965 which is involved in clinical trials, basic research and education. The web site includes details of participating institutions, reports, trials, events, newsletter and related links.
