Introduction

There is a vast amount of cancer related information on the Internet. This guide aims to make it easier to find specific information by providing a catalogue of web sites / pages sorted by disease type, country, treatments, and other relevant topics. Remember that health care systems, treatment protocols and clinical trails may vary from country to country.

Your physician: if you are a patient always remember to discuss your health concerns and information requirements with your physician. Your physician should be able to provide you with the information which is most relevant to you.

Pros and cons: the Internet may provide you with a useful source to supplement your information, but may also be a potential source of confusion and frustration; see Steve Dunn's Pros and cons of researching your cancer.

Information: please read the page about the Quality of Cancer Information on the Internet

Books on Cancer (3 links)

This section is still under development. This guide does not endorse any particular books, or suppliers - books with associated web pages are included here; some provide the full text on-line, others give exerts from the books, some web pages are little more than adverts for the paper books. Of course there are many other good books on cancer that do not have a related web page, and are therefore not listed here. Your health care team may be able to recommend one that is most relevant to you. A good place to start is Oncolink which provides reviews of selected books on cancer (see below).
  • Beyond the Road's End A book by the wife of a cancer patient: telling the story of her husband's 5 month battle with a brain tumour, including treatments, support, links, death and dying, and other issues. The book can be viewed online or downloaded free (PDF)
  • Book Review: Against the Odds: The True Story of Michele, A Cancer Survivor (OncoLink) The story of Michele who developed Wilms' tumor at age 3. This book was written by Michele and her parents - reviewed in OncoLink
  • Non-Chew CookBook (by J. Randy Wilson) a book for people suffering from chewing, swallowing and dry mouth disorders. This site contains details about the book, sample recipes, ordering information, and links to related information.
